Why We Kill Each Other: The Creation of The Other.

Why do human beings kill, torture, maim and murder each other? Why do we create ‘the other’ and how should we deal with this evil. This talk by Aonghus Kelly is based on his journey and experiences working as a lawyer acting for victims, investigating and prosecuting genocide and mass killings and defending those accused of crimes against humanity across the globe.
Aonghus Kelly is an Irish lawyer from Galway who has lived and worked in 9 countries. Since 2006 he has been studying and working on issues related to human rights, war crimes and organised crime in Iraq, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Cambodia, Libya and Tunisia, he has investigated and prosecuted war criminals, migrant smugglers, organ traffickers and terrorists, he has defended those accused of crimes against humanity and acted for those tortured and murdered. He now works on rule of law and human rights issues. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
